THIS SUNDAY, October 4:

Rev. W. Franc Perry, our guest preacher, will preach a sermon titled "The Transformative Power of Forgiveness."  Rev. Perry received a law degree from George Washington University Law School, and practiced law for nearly two decades before attending the Union Theological Seminary. He graduated in 2004 and was awarded the Maxwell Prize for pastoral ministry. Rev. Perry currently is a principal court attorney in New York Civil Court and the chairman of Community Board 10 in Manhattan.

New Order of Service:  This Sunday the sermon will be moved up in the Order of Worship to help reinforce the Confirmation Class' study of the Reformed tradition's Theology of Worship.  Please arrive promptly for the sermon, which will start by 11:30 a.m.

In support of the Confirmation class's study of "Why and How We Worship," we have shifted the Order of Service in October.  The changes in the Order of Worship reflect our Reformed tradition's understanding of the movements of worship.  There is a Gathering around the Word (Invocation, Hymn, Confession, Assurance, Welcome) followed by a Hearing of the Word (Scripture, Anthem, Sermon) and then a time for Responding to the Word (Prayers, Offering, Communion, Hymn) and finally a time for Sending Out of us with the Word embodied in our lives (Benediction).  We hope you will enjoy the movements of worship and reflect on their meaning with the confirmation class and worship leaders.

Rev. Beth Waltemath will preside over Communion.

The nursery will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christina and Patty are excited to welcome your kids back.

10 o' Clock Hour. Please join David Mullé in the Thurman Room for 10 o'Clock Hour with a Bible study on Isaiah.

Confirmation Class and Youth mentors will meet in church and sit together for service before they come together after service with their mentor groups.

White Rose Ministry presents a Cuba Dinner:  Immediately following the worship service in the Elliott Room, the White Rose Ministry will serve another of their famously delicious fundraisers to support our sister church in Cuba. Eat in or take out, but don't miss it!
