Holy Listening At FPC: Dr. Westina Matthews in the pulpit Oct. 25

THIS SUNDAY, October 25:

 

Dr. Westina Matthews will preach a sermon titled: "Are You in Jericho or Jerusalem?" Westina Matthews, Ph.D. is a retired corporate executive, retreat leader, public speaker, and spiritual director whose practice reflects contemplative living through "holy listening." She connects with others through her series of poignant spiritual books in the Have A Little Faith series, based on the mustard seed parable.

 

The nursery will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christina and Patty are excited to welcome your kids back.

 

10 o' Clock Hour. Please join David Mullé in the Thurman Room for 10 o'Clock Hour for Bible study on Isaiah.

Interim Pastor Update
We are happy to announce that Rev. Stephen Phelps has been approved by the NYC Presbytery's Committee on Ministry. Rev Phelps will lead worship service on November 1. Service will be followed by a special welcoming coffee hour hosted by the committee chairs.  Please plan to attend to give him a warm FPC welcome! Rev Phelps' bio will be sent as a separate email.
  
Associate Pastor Update

Rev. Beth Waltemath remains on bed rest; she is in good spirits and remains positive. Due to the volume of e-mail, text messages and telephone calls, she is unable to respond to each message individually. She sends her best regards and thanks the congregation for the outpouring of support. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. Regular updates will be provided by Edna Asknes, Clerk of Session. Cards will be forwarded to her, please leave them in Edna's mailbox or the Administrator's mailbox. 

October Session Meeting

The October Session Meeting will be held on Monday Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Manse. Rev. Phelps will be a guest at the meeting, pending his release from the Western NY Presbytery and his acceptance into the NYC Presbytery.

 

Organ Recital: An Evening of Macabre Masterpieces, on Friday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. Join organists Wil Smith and Meghann Wilhoite with special guests for an evening of creepy classics, including Bach's bone-chilling Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor.  Accompanying the music in a dark FPC sanctuary will be spooky images projected directly onto the pipes by a live video artist.  Not to be missed!

Food Pantry: We still need volunteers to receive food from the CSA on Wednesday evenings for next 5 weeks.  Arrive about 7:30 and wait for CSA volunteers to bring produce.   Place on tables in the Narthex for distribution to the Food Pantry clients on Thursday.  See Linda Kolts or call her at 718-855-1206.  Guarantee:  You will feel good about your participation in helping the Food Pantry. 

 

Sign up for Sunday School:  We need you!  Please sign up to teach for a month.
