FPC Weekly E-Newsletter

THIS SUNDAY:

On Sunday, July 27, at 10 a.m., Rev. Bertram Watkins, will be preaching a sermon titled "Dancing the Truth," based on Psalm 25: 1-6 and selected verses from John. A graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, Watkins served Baptist congregations in Rhode Island and New Jersey before becoming a Presbyterian minister. He's been senior pastor at the First Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood, N.J., for ten years, where he is known as Bert and for his sense of humor. He specializes in preaching. His daughter, Gwynne Watkins, and son-in-law, Gabe McKee, are church members.

First Church also will celebrate the baptism of two babies:

Anselm Thomas McKee, son of Gwynne Watkins and Gabe McKee

Kaylani Tami Hope Sodusta, daughter of Yulianna and Glenn Sodusta

Also on Sunday: The FPC bocce team, "The Holy Rollers" will play two league games. The first will begin at 1 p.m. and the second at 1:45 p.m., at Floyd's, 131 Atlantic Ave. (between Henry and Clinton Streets.) For more information, contact Breisen Miller at Breisen@gmail.com.

Other news:

Traveling mercies: Our prayers are with Ty Inwood, J and daughter Brooklyn Baron, on their move July 22 to Silver City, New Mexico. Ty, J, and Brooklyn have been members of our community for over a decade, blessing the Sunday school, new parents group, global arts festival and confirmation class with their gentle and creative spirits.  This year, J was even the first to welcome two of our newest members into the world through her work as a labor and delivery nurse at Roosevelt Hospital.  We wish the Inwood Baron family all of God's blessings during their move and in their new community in New Mexico.

Missing Worship Bags: Children can enjoy fun and creative activities while sitting in the pews during summer worship services, thanks to the Neuner family who made and donated 10 "Kid's Worship bags." However, since July 13, eight of the 10 bags have gone missing.  If you or a child you know has taken one of these activity bags by mistake, please return them to the table in the Narthex.  Help us offer this great gift and teaching package to every child for the rest of the summer by remembering to return the bags to the Narthex after church.

On the youth blog: Mark Elsenheimer has posted photographs and a recap of a recent youth group outing to a New York Liberty game. Even though it was hot and the home team lost, everyone is ready to do it again. Check for upcoming details about a trip to a Brooklyn Cyclones game at http://fpcbrooklynyouth.blogspot.com/.
