Mission Review Survey Now On-Line

Now On-Line - Complete on-line by Sunday July 26th.  Paper survey deadline has passed.  Do not duplicate surveys – Choose paper or on-line!
Please take a few minutes to click on the following link and complete the FPC Brooklyn Mission Review survey, which contains a series of questions designed to elicit your opinion on the critical attributes of the new Senior Minister, in relation to the church's needs, priorities and strongly held values.  The survey results will be used to update the June 2007 Report of the Mission Review Committee, and then forwarded to the new Pastoral Nominating Committee as it works to recruit a new Senior Minister for our church.

(Please note: If you completed a paper survey, please do not complete the online Survey Monkey.  It is the very same survey that was distributed on Sunday, June 28. Many thanks to the 37 people who completed and returned their surveys that day.)

Worship Leaders for the Summer: Anyone who is interested in participating as a Worship Leader in July and August, please contact Larry Picard or Annie Solages at fpc124@aol.com. Larry will contact you to discuss your interest and schedule. No experience is necessary.

Mid-week Boost July 22 and 29: Debunking Idols....Going to the Source.
Whether we become disconnected from the Christ Spirit at times during our daily lives or we live a fundamentally broken life - or somewhere in between; we often rely on things or relationships to repair the disconnection. This approach offers a fleeting reprieve and tends to deepen the disconnection. During these two sessions, led by Susan Schultz,, we will discuss ways to break the habit of "idol worship" and create a deeper connection to the Spirit.

Drivers Needed. Do you drive to church? We have a few members who live nearby but need a ride to church. Volunteer, make a new friend, and learn about the history of our church through members who've seen it through several decades. Contact Larry Picard through the Church office at 718-624-3770 or email at fpc124@aol.com.

Summer Music Series
There will be no Summer Music Series scheduled on July 23.

Green Team - The Peace Garden needs regular watering during the dry season (June 12th through September 12th). Please contact Uda at umbradford@mindspring.com
or Jill at hughugj@aol.com  if you are able to help water for one week or more this summer.

Garden Parties:  The Garden Parties continue through August 28, from=2 06 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  These popular informal gatherings are the perfect way to wind down from the work week while enjoying the beautiful Peace Garden.  In the event of rain, the Garden Party will be held in the Elliott Room. For more information please contact Prisca Owens at Prisca.owens@americas.bnpparibas.com.

Church Wide Nominating Committee (CWNC) seeks statements of interest from FPC members interested in serving on the new Pastoral Nominating Committee (PNC).  The deadline for these statements was June 26th, 2009, but, although we have gotten a number of statements, we have not yet received enough to nominate a committee of nine members.  As a result, we are extending the deadline through at least the end of August in the expectation that we will have a congregational meeting in the early fall to elect a new PNC.  We will advise in subsequent announcements the specific new deadline for statements of interest.  Please prayerfully consider taking up this service to the Church, with energy, discernment, listening ears and open hearts.

If you are interested in serving, please contact any current committee member:  Jon Abernethy, Chair, Bernice Adorno, Nate Dudley, Marta Nelson, Sam Murumba, or Kimbirly Mack by emailing them at fpc124@aol.com.

Session Matters: Session meets Tuesday, July 21 at 7PM in the
Manse Parlor.  Business will include filling position for the Sexton and
Interim Pastor positions.

Session wants to introduce the Summer Sexton: Victor Forde.  Victor
is a long-term friend to our community and of our space.  He has worked
for 10 years at St. Ann's providing janitorial and security services.
He is eager to help and says he learns new things every day about our
unique historical building.  Jenny Vallon is acting Sexton on Sundays
in July.  Need access or supplies?  Ask Jenny.

Do you have concerns for Session to address? Send email to co-clerks, Marcia Smith, at mmax@pasesetter.org ; or Edna Asknes, eja128@msn.com Or leave questions and comments in the box in the Narthex labeled" Congregational Questions to the Session.
