FPC Weekly E-Newsletter

THIS SUNDAY:

On Oct. 5 at 11 a.m., at a service celebrating Holy Communion, Westina Matthews will preach a sermon titled "Faith In the Wilderness." Matthews, a managing director on Wall Street, is a recent graduate of The Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation and the author of three inspirational books.

The nursery will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Patty and Cristina.  Sunday School and Children's Church takes place in the gym after the Passing of the Peace in the Worship Service. Confirmands and Youth Mentors will sit together during Worship Service and meet after the service.

The 10 o'Clock Hour discussion topic is "Meet John Calvin." (A full list of topics can be found on the church bulletin board and the website calendar.)

Westina Matthews's CD "Have A Little Faith ...The Faith of A Mustard Seed," based on her first book and featuring the First Church choir, will be available for purchase after Sunday's worship service. Ten percent of proceeds of all CD sales go to our music ministry.

Circle of Wisdom will meet at 1 p.m. to explore questions including how to connect with your spiritual self in school, work, and relationships. The group, led by Harriette Mandeville, was organized to serve young adults, ages 18-25, but people of all ages are welcome.

Communicating with Children workshop will meet in the Thurman Room from 5 to 6:30 p.m. to discuss discipline alternatives. Childcare is available.  (Volunteers, aunts, uncles, and grandparents, as well as parents, are welcome.)
