Summer Is a Great Time to Serve

A weekly e-newsletter of First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn:

Main office (718) 624-3770               Email info@firstchurchbrooklyn.org

We celebrate our new members and welcome back our commission to La Fernanda Church in Cuba, whose church also received new members last week! And a special thanks to one & all for making or annual BBQ a great success! It was a perfect way to celebrate the accomplishments of our confirmands, to welcome our new members and to "kick off" the summer in fellowship. Summer is a great time to get involved.  Look below for ways to do so and make sure to follow up with the committee chairs you met in service two weeks ago!

The First Words of the Church

An introduction to the New Testament is underway at the Ten O'Clock Hour.  You may have learned the order of these books of the Bible in Sunday School —Matthew, Mark, Luke and so forth—but the story behind their composition offers a very different kind of order and meaning.   Who wrote?  What were their sources?  Whom did they write for?  As with his survey of the Old Testament, Rev. Phelps will aim to make each session stand by itself, so you may come to one, or come to all.  Rev. Phelps' introduction to the New Testament at the Ten O'Clock Hour will consider books of the New Testament in this manner:

June  6      Letters of Paul: Galatians, Romans, Philippians

June 13     Gospel of John and the Letters of John

June 20     Pastoral epistles

June 27     Revelation
